What is the function of an afterburner in a gas recovery steam boiler (cogeneration)?

The function of an afterburner in a gas recovery steam boiler (cogeneration) is to raise the temperature of the gases to a suitable level, without increasing the volume of gases or combustion air.

This burner takes advantage of the excess oxygen content of the exhaust gases to carry out the combustion that takes place before entering the boiler.

ATTSU equips some of its boilers with after burners to increase steam production, increasing the efficiency of cogeneration.
