What ventilation systems do industrial boilers have?

When they reach a certain size, industrial steam boilers are installed in a boiler room which is necessary to ensure safety while they are operating as pressure equipment, in accordance with local regulations.

Although the personnel responsible for operating boilers do not work there permanently, boiler rooms are places to which essential staff have access. Access by personnel must be limited, and as such they can only be entered by authorised personnel.

Boiler rooms must be well ventilated, with a lower or upper inlet and outlet for outside air. There are pre-established criteria for the design and specifications of ventilation in rooms containing the most powerful boilers and those using fuels such as natural gas, such as the UNE 60601 standard.
